The Final Spray: A Small Ritual With A Place In The Day

The shirt is on. The keys are waiting. There is one last gesture before leaving.
A hand raises the bottle, a fine mist catches the light, and getting ready feels complete.
This photograph takes an ordinary action and gives it a moment of attention. There is no elaborate setting, no visible destination and no need for a recognisable label. Its subject is the ritual itself.
That is an aspect of fragrance easily overlooked in conversations about ingredients and performance. Perfume is something we do as well as something we wear. Choosing a bottle can mark the beginning of a working day, the transition into an evening or the simple decision to make an effort for ourselves.
The ritual does not require an audience. A favourite fragrance can be just as enjoyable on a quiet day when no one else comments on it.
Seen this way, a signature scent need not carry the burden of defining your personality. It can be something smaller and more useful: a familiar pleasure, a finishing touch, a moment that belongs to you before the day belongs to everyone else.
Sometimes one final spray is simply how you know you are ready.
